Artwork Specifications
Filetypes – .png | .tif | .pdf : Upload as many as you like on the same order. All files are converted to .png files during the upload.
Image Resolution. The uploader automatically trims the design and adjusts the canvas to fit tightly around the visible elements without altering their size. It recalculates the pixel dimensions of the image and resets the ppi value to 300dpi. This will be the actual size of the printed image.
Re-sizing. The uploader lets you resize your image before adding it to your order. When it comes to resizing, remember: scaling down is safe, scaling up can reduce quality. Avoid heavy upscaling, and always begin with the highest-resolution image you have.
Sharpen. Applies a subtle sharpening effect. You can apply it multiple times for stronger results, but be cautious—too much sharpening can distort the image. If the result looks off, remove the image, re-load, and start again.
Flip. Flips the image horizontally.
Transparent background. In the file preview, you should see a checkerboard pattern behind your design elements—that indicates a transparent background. If you see a solid color (usually white), your image doesn’t have a transparent background. Preview your image on different backgrounds to ensure it looks correct.
NEW: Removing Background (BG) All. This tool removes the perceived background colour from your image. Important note – If your artwork contains the same colour as the perceived background (for example, white image elements on a white background), that colour inside the design boundaries will also be removed. After removal the image is automatically trimmed to the visible artwork so there’s no extra empty space.
NEW: Removing Background (BG) Edge. This tool removes the perceived background colour from your image. Important note – The tool maps out the edge of the actual image elements and no colour is removed from the inside of that edge. After removal the image is automatically trimmed to the visible artwork so there’s no extra empty space.
Fine Lines and Small Text. The minimum line weight is 2pts. That’s about as small you can safely go with stand-alone text or fine lines in illustrations.
Graphics Services. If you need help with your order or images please contact our art team at artwork@zippyprints.ca. Reasonable art charges will apply.
